The steel industry

Heavy-duty gearboxes and ring gears for rolling mills, converters, and ladle drives. Engineered to handle extreme torque and thermal conditions.

Heavy-duty gears for the steel industry

Steel production involves some of the most extreme conditions in any industrial environment. Rolling mills, converter drives, ladle drives, and continuous casting equipment operate under very high torque, elevated temperatures, and in the presence of scale and water that create a highly aggressive environment for mechanical components. Gear drives in these applications must combine maximum load capacity with resistance to the operating conditions.

Rolling mill gears and gearboxes

Rolling mill main drives require large, heavily loaded gears that can transmit the full rolling torque while tolerating the shock loads and speed variations inherent in the rolling process. We produce gears and gearboxes for rolling mill applications in high-strength alloy steels, with heat treatment and tooth accuracy class selected for the specific mill configuration and material being rolled.

Converter and ladle drive components

Converter tilt drives and ladle turret drives require gears that can handle high intermittent torque with very high reliability. A converter drive failure during a heat is a serious and costly event. We produce components for these applications with a focus on material quality, tooth accuracy, and full NDT verification before delivery.

Continuous casting drive systems

Strand guide and withdrawal straightening drives in continuous casting machines require consistent torque and smooth motion under difficult environmental conditions. We produce gear components for these drives to the accuracy and material specifications required by the casting machine OEM or end user.
