Precision gears for float glass lines and processing equipment where smooth, consistent motion and tight tolerances directly affect product quality.

Precision gears for the glass industry

Float glass lines and glass processing equipment require gear drives that deliver exceptionally smooth and consistent motion. In float glass production, any variation in drive speed or torque directly affects the thickness uniformity and surface quality of the glass ribbon. Tight tolerances, high accuracy classes, and low vibration levels are therefore critical requirements for every gear component in the drive line.

Float glass line drives

The rollers in a float glass line must be driven at precisely controlled speeds with minimal speed variation. We produce gear pairs and pinions for float glass line drives to the accuracy classes required for smooth, consistent motion, with tooth form and surface finish optimised to minimise transmission error and vibration.

Annealing lehr and processing line gears

Downstream of the float bath, annealing lehrs and cutting lines require similarly smooth and reliable drive components. We produce gears and gearboxes for these applications in materials and accuracy classes matched to the duty cycle and environmental conditions of the installation.

Accuracy and surface finish

For glass industry applications, we typically produce gears to DIN 5 or better, with tooth flank grinding and full topography measurement to verify the finished profile. The relationship between gear accuracy and motion smoothness is well established, and our grinding and measurement capability is well suited to the requirements of this sector.
